In 2012, the national airline airBaltic plans to service approximately the same number of passengers as in 2011 – 3.35 million, Martin Gauss, the airline's CEO, said in an interview with the business information portal Nozare.lv.

The plan is to carry approximately the same number of passengers as last year. However, it will be done much more efficiently, since airBaltic can transport more passengers by reducing the number of flights, said Gauss.

It is expected that the airline's turnover will remain similar to that in 2011. The exact projection though is yet to be calculated. Furthermore, it is clear that airBaltic will reduce its losses this year, writes LETA.

From February, airBaltic will have a different pricing policy. Gauss is dissatisfied with the airline's past sales.

"The passengers of airBaltic will not be affected by these changes, since the airline's prices will remain the same. We will change our sales mechanisms. It is a sophisticated system and we will change its settings. The goal is to achieve less expensive early bookings to improve our passenger load," explains Gauss.

As reported, last year, the airline's consolidated losses amounted to LVL 35.9 million, turnover – to LVL 204.4 million, which was a 11.6 percent increase on 2009, according to the Register of Enterprises Lursoft.
