Number of passengers in Lithuanian airports grew by 23.7% in 2008

In January-June 2008, the Lithuanian airports served a total of 1.2 million passengers, a growth of 23.7% year-on-year.

According to data provided by the Statistics Lithuania, the largest share of passengers travelled to and from the United Kingdom (170,000 passengers/13.7%), Germany (129,200 passengers/10.4%), Ireland (122.100 passengers/9.9%), and Denmark (110,500 passengers/8.9%).

 

Compared with the same period of the preceding year, more passengers travelled to and from Ireland (39.5%), the United Kingdom (4.1%), Germany (1.9%), while less passengers travelled to and from Denmark (2.4%).

 

A total of 4,800 tonnes of cargo and post was loaded and unloaded in airports, a fall of 38.3% as compared with January-June last year. Airports served 23,200 Lithuanian and foreign airplanes, an increase of 14.5% year-on-year.
