Revenue Service of Latvia found contraband cigarettes in Chinese footwear

Print versionThe State Revenue Service's Customs Criminal Board of Latvia have found a large amount of contraband cigarettes in a footwear container from China; it is possible that it is the largest amount of contraband cigarettes seized so far this year.
The freight recipient is a Latvian company, as the Customs Criminal Board's deputy head Eriks Zalenieks informed LETA.
As reported, at the end of March the State Revenue Service customs officials seized 2.3 million illegal cigarettes with Russian excise duty stickers on them. The total amount of excise duty on these cigarettes would have been LVL 104,352.
