Estonian Post to procure parcel automats

Juhan Tere, BC, Tallinn, 18.08.2010.Print version
Estonian Post (Eesti Post) announced an international public procurement for acquiring parcel automats, writes LETA/National Broadcasting.

The public procurement will take place in the form of negotiated procurement process and involves the comprehensive solution for parcel automats – the equipment, relevant software etc – that would make it possible for customers to send and receive letters and parcels via the automats.

In June the postal enterprise started testing a parcel automat as a pilot project – the first automat was installed in the Centre of Tallinn, next to the entrance of the bus terminal of the Viru Shopping Centre. According to the enterprise, the pilot project received positive feedback from customers and partners.

Estonian Post is planning to install parcel automats in most-frequented locations across Estonia so that they could be used 24 hours a day.

The self-service parcel automats will be first used in Estonia, then in Latvia and in Lithuania.

The service of parcel automats was first launched on the Estonian market by Smartpost – in April last year. Smartpost has a couple of dozen parcel automats across Estonia.
