“We have researched the customers’ demand and the market over there,” said CEO of Estonian Post Aavo Kärmas. He added that the postal enterprise has not yet decided whether logistical and courier services would be provided by Estonian Post itself or in co-operation with some local partners.
Similarly to Estonia, Estonian Post is planning to start installing postage package automats in the shopping centres of Latvia and Lithuania.
Chairman of the supervisory board of the postal company Meelis Atonen added that the reorganisations in the postal network that have appeared successful in Estonia have not yet been made and the local postal enterprises are welcoming Estonian help, requiring a comprehensive solution.
The expansion to the Baltic markets would involve plans to invest a total of 150 million kroons.
This year, Estonian Post started delivering packages for online stores and a digital environment was created for corporate customers. Postal sales deliveries are now taken to recipients’ homes.
Estonian Post also launched the service of e-bills. “No bills are moved on paper any more,” said Kärmas.
