In February 2010, the Port of Liepaja handled 397,103 tons of cargo, which is 13.3% more when compared to February of last year, as the Liepaja Special Economic Zone's public relations officer Liga Ratniece-Kadege informed LETA.

On the other hand, when compared to January of this year, the Port of Liepaja increased cargo turnover by 27.6%.

The Liepaja Special Economic Zone's investment and marketing department director Ivo Kolins commented the port's cargo turnover as stable with positive trends. The increase in cargo turnover has also been stimulated by the cold winter and the icy gulfs in the Baltic Sea.
