Siemens is to modernize Vilnius and Kaunas airports

Print versionThe international technologies and innovations company Siemens is to modernize Vilnius and Kaunas airports by the end of the year 2009. Upon the implementation of the modernization projects of Kaunas Airport worth 1.069 million litas (311,650 euros) and Vilnius International Airport costing 5.713 million litas (1.67 million euros), these airports will be more secure.

The main target of the project on the modernization of Kaunas Airport is improvement of the airport. Aviation security will be ensured by extending the platform, reports ELTA/LETA.
"In Vilnius International Airport the main goal is to install the second landing category signal lights system on the take off strip set by the International Civil Aviation Organization. Such systems were installed by Siemens in Kaunas and Palanga airports in 2007," claims Kestutis Ciplys, head of the industrial and transport solutions departments at Siemens.
