TS Laevad, a subsidiary of the listed Estonian port company AS Tallinna Sadam operating ferries between the mainland and Estonia's large western islands, carried 363,220 passengers and 152,499 vehicles in July, respectively 7.9 percent and 0.6 percent less than in the same month the year before; the number of passengers and vehicles serviced on the Rohukula-Heltermaa route reached an all-time high level, however.

"We serviced 113,088 passengers and 45,378 vehicles on the Rohukula-Heltermaa route in July, which marks a new monthly record and is respectively 3 percent and 6 percent more than during the same period last year. Passengers serviced on the Virtsu-Kuivastu route numbered 250,132 in July and vehicles 107,121," Ave Metsla, board member and head of services at TS Laevad, said.

Metsla noted that while the number of passengers and vehicles transported on the Virtsu-Kuivastu route were lower by 12 percent and 3 percent, respectively, compared with July 2019, they are moving closer to last year's level with each passing week.

The head of services at TS Laevad noted that 98.9 percent of departures in July were carried out on time. Additional trips were made on the Virtsu-Kuivastu route with the ferry Regula to prevent long waiting times on most popular departures.

"We were pleased to see that we managed to also maintain a high level of customer satisfaction during the most popular month of the year, and even reached the highest level of all time -- our customer satisfaction index at the end of July stood at 72.8 percent, having grown 8.4 percent compared with July last year," Metsla said.

During the first seven months of 2020, TS Laevad carried a total of 1,043,862 passengers and 503,793 vehicles.
