Face coverings will no longer be mandatory when using public transportation in Latvia
The wearing of face masks in public transport remains recommendatory in nature.
Also, the amendments approved by the government stipulate that from August it will be possible for up to 3,000 people to gather at outdoor events instead of 1,000, as previously determined.
The amendments supported by the government also provide for the waiving of time limits for outdoor events, while maintaining time limits for indoor events.
Also, the space between customers in public catering establishments has been reduced from four square meters to three square meters.
The Minister of Health Ilze Vinkele (For Development) pointed out that these easing for restrictions have become possible due to the good indicators of the epidemiological situation and the low incidence of Covid-19 in Latvia.
"It must be understood that these reliefs are temporary - if the epidemiological situation worsens, then we will have to return to these restrictions," Vineke added.
