New passenger carriers could start working on regional bus routes in June of next year, the Minister of Transport Talis Linkaits (New Conservative Party) predicted in an interview with the Latvian Television morning news program Rita Panorama on JUne 2nd, reports LETA.
"We hope that June of next year could be the time when the new carriers could start their work in Latvia," said the minister.
He pointed out that there is currently clarity about the provision of future public transport services on regional routes in the first five lots where the results of the tender have not been appealed, including clarity about service providers in Liepaja region, Kuldiga region, Daugavpils region, Bauska region and Pieriga.
At the same time, Linkaits also admitted that new tenders could follow for the other lots, subject to appeals.
As reported, 11 complaints have been submitted to the Procurement Monitoring Bureau in the tender for the provision of public transport services from 2021.
