Between 1,700 to 2,000 bicycles stolen in Latvia each year

In Latvia, between 2016 and the middle of May this year, 7,972 bicycle thefts were registered, according to the information compiled by the State Police writes LETA.
This year, until mid-May, 571 bicycle thefts were registered in Latvia. The highest number of thefts was recorded in April, when thieves stole 181 bicycles.
Last year, a total of 1,766 bicycle thefts were registered, in 2018 - 1,835 thefts, in 2017 - 1,779 thefts, but in 2016 - 2,021 such crimes.
Police experience shows that every year most bicycles are stolen from the indoor areas.
