Latvian fuel sales down 6.6% in three months

With 292,611 tons of fuel sold in Latvia in January-March 2020, fuel sales dropped by 20,765 tons, or 6.6 percent from the first three months of 2019, according to the data on excised goods released by the Latvian State Revenue Service writes LETA.

The amount of fuel sold in retail trade declined 3.9 percent and the amount of fuel sold by wholesalers decreased 9.4%. Meanwhile, sales of market fuel dropped 34.2% y-o-y and the amount of fuel used for own consumption and other purposes dropped 11.5%.


The amount of fuel sold in January-March included 207,704 tons of diesel fuel, 30,567 tons of biogasoline, 11,639 tons of kerosene, 18,553 tons of diesel fuel for farmers, 9,392 tons of car gas, 7,477 tons of fuel gas, and 4,682 tons of gasoline.


In terms of product categories, sales volumes of gasoline increased 24.2%, sales of diesel fuel for farmers rose 42.5%. Meanwhile, sales volumes declined 8.3% or diesel fuel, 14.8% for fuel gas, 10.7% for car gas, 11.3% for biogasoline and 15.8% for kerosene.


In January-March, 211,549 tons of fuel were sold in retail trade, down 8,674 tons or 3.9% against January-March 2019.


In 2019, fuel sales in Latvia grew 0.7% against a year before to 965,206 tons.
