Riga Airport's operations unaffected by stormy weather

The storm that raged in Latvia on Wednesday did not affect Riga International Airport’s operations, the airport’s spokeswoman Laura Karnite told LETA.

She said that flights were not delayed at the airport today.

Karnite noted, however, that two airBaltic flights that were supposed to land in Tallinn and an Uzbekistan Airways flight to Kaliningrad were diverted to Riga due to severe weather conditions in the Baltics.

This morning, wind gusts in the Baltic Sea off Latvia’s western coast reached speeds of 33 or 34 meters per second.

Meteorologists have declared the highest, or red alert over the storm in the Baltic Sea.
