Lithuania's Small Planet Airlines fails to prove having investor

BC, Vilnius, 27.11.2018.Print version
Lithuania's financially-troubled chartered airline Small Planet Airlines has not provided evidence that an undisclosed investor is ready to invest into the company, the head of the Civil Aviation Administration said LETA/BNS.

"The identity of the investor remains a secret but I can say that from what they submitted, we don’t see that the investor has real and evidence-based intentions to invest. There are probably wishes but today we don’t have an investor," Joris Gintvilas told LETA/BNS.

He could not disclose which country the potential investors are from, only adding that they are legal persons.

The CAA's licensing commission discussed the air company's situation on Tuesday but did not make any decision. It's expected on Wednesday, and Gintilas refrain from speculating what it would be as he's not a member of the commission.

On Monday, Small Planet Airlines submitted its restructuring plan, financial results and forecasts. The company said it believes the new undisclosed investor will help to put the existing situation under control.

The company said a letter of intent was signed last week on additional investments in its working capital.

A Vilnius court is due to launch restructuring proceedings for Small Planet Airlines on Wednesday.

The airline also filed for restructuring with German and Polish courts in September and October. The airline also operates in Cambodia.
