Lux Express: GoBus coming to Tallinn-Tartu route may change price policy

BC, Tallinn, 25.10.2017.Print version
Andrus Treier, CEO of bus company Lux Express, said that the plan of bus company GoBus to start operating the Tallinn-Tartu bus route may impact the company's price policy, reports LETA/BNS.

Treier told BNS that as a result of the statement made by GoBus on Tuesday saying that the company in November will start operating the Tallinn-Tartu bus route with 15 departures per day, the price policy of Lux Express may change in the future.

"As a bus company operating on a commercial basis, without the aid of the state, we constantly analyze our price policy and shaping it according to the market situation. We in Lux Express have used dynamic pricing for years, which means that ticket prices change according to demand," he said.

However, Treier said that GoBus coming to the Tallinn-Tartu route is a sign that the demand for quality travel services in Estonia is increasing.

"There are at present 12 different carriers operating the Tallinn-Tartu route and GoBus will therefore become the thirteenth. In a situation, where the market is growing, it is only logical that the interest in the business segment is growing," Treier said.

GoBus on Tuesday announced that it will start servicing the Tallinn-Tartu bus route in November with 15 departures per day.

"GoBus is planning to start operating the Tallinn-Tartu route as we can see that there is demand for comfortable and fast new connections," Kaur Sarv, head of development at GoBus, said in a press release.

"We have an ambitious plan to offer the best regular service in Estonia between Tallinn and Tartu and for that we have ordered brand new buses from Scania with all comforts, while additionally the known good quality of the regular services of GoBus will also be provided by specially trained drivers," Sarv added.

Sarv said that the details concerning the Tallinn-Tartu regular services will be determined this week and the premiere of the new buses will take place next Monday in Tallinn.

GoBus AS is owned by the company AS Go Group, which in turn is owned by Tiit Pruuli and Marcel Vichmann.

Lux Express is an international bus company operating regular bus routes in the Baltic countries and in the vicinity, and belongs to the Hugo Osula Mootor group.
