Minister appoints new members to Estonian Railways supervisory board

Estonia's Minister of Economic Affairs and Infrastructure Kadri Simson at the proposal of the nomination committee recalled Tiit Riisalo from the supervisory board of the state-owned Estonian railway infrastructure company Estonian Railways (Eesti Raudtee) and appointed Siiri Lahe and Enn Veskimagi as new supervisory board members, reports LETA/BNS.

Priit Rohumaa, Ain Tatter and Raigo Uukkivi will remain on the supervisory board, the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications said.

 

"With both new supervisory board members I consider important their longstanding successful leadership experience, which could be of help when managing the state-owned Estonian Railways," Simson said.

 

"Due to decreasing freight volumes, Estonian Railways is facing difficult choices, but regardless of the difficult times the company needs reasonable investments and a forward looking development plan also in the future," she said.

 

Siiri Lahe is a member of the management board and financial director of the aspen pulp producer Estonian Cell as well as the former financial director and member of the management board of the listed water company Tallinna Vesi.

 

Enn Veskimagi has since 1996 been a member of the management board of the furniture producer Standard and since 1994 member of the management board of the Estonian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. He has previously been a member of the supervisory board of Enterprise Estonia.

 

Tiit Riisalo is the director of the Office of the Estonian President. He has also held the position of secretary general of the Pro Patria and Res Publica Union (IRL). Riisalo has previously held positions at Go Group and Enterprise Estonia.

 

The powers of the supervisory board members will last for three years.
