Mark Oil releases EUR 1.4 mln mortgage on Leedo's ships in Estonia

BC, Tallinn, 08.08.2017.Print version
The fuel trading company OU Mark Oil has removed the mortgages of 700,000 euros each placed on the vessels Harilaid and Korgelaid of the company Saaremaa Laevakompanii (SLK), holding of Estonian businessman Vjatseslav Leedo, cites LETA/BNS.

According to a registration application submitted on August 5, Mark Oil on July 21 removed the mortgages of 700,000 euros each placed on the vessels Harilaid and Korgelaid.

At the same time Leedo placed the mortgages of 700,000 euros each on both vessels in favor of his company Tuulaja OU, which is a subsidiary of Holostov Kinnisvara. The vessel Harilaid is owned by Harilaid Maritime, while Korgelaid is owned by Korgelaid Maritime. Both of the vessels are owned by Leedo through a chain of companies.

Mark Oil on June 27 placed mortgages of 700,000 euros each on the vessels. The parties at the time did not wish to comment on the reasons for the mortgages.

SLK board member Tonis Rihvk told BNS in June that the company is planning to put the ships into service again and they are definitely not planning to sell them.

SLK leased the two vessels until the beginning of this year to the Port of Tallinn subsidiary TS Laevad, which took over operating the subsidized ferry lines between the mainland and Estonia's large western islands from SLK in last October, after winning a public procurement tender.

Both of the vessels were built at the Riga shipyard in the second half of the 1980s. They are 50 meters long and have a cargo capacity of 254 tons.
