ooperation with Uzbekistan in transport and logistics is important both for the Riga Freeport and for Latvia’s transport sector in general in order to ensure alternatives for the declining transit cargo flow from Russia, the port’s administration said.

Nigmatilla Yuldashev, Chairman of the Senate of Uzbekistan, during his official visit to Latvia today visited the Riga Freeport. The Uzbek guests were informed about operations of the port and investment opportunities, as well as Riga port’s offer for transit of Uzbek goods to European markets.

The Riga Freeport representatives underscored that cooperation with Uzbekistan in transport and logistics is very important for the Riga Freeport, as well as for Latvia’s transport sector in general in order to ensure alternatives for the declining transit cargo flow from Russia. Uzbekistan is an important partner and market for the Riga port, especially considering the opportunities offered for multimodal cargo transportation by the steeply growing Uzbek logistics center Navoi.

According to the port, the Uzbek representatives voiced interest in the Riga Freeport and companies operating at port that could promote development of Uzbek goods exports to the European markets.

"The Riga port is actively looking for new cooperation partners. We are open to different proposals, and we are interested in the Uzbek market because of its size and geographical location," said Riga Freeport board chairman Andris Ameriks.
