The board of the Latvia Post accepted the resignation letter from Krauklis yesterday, on April 21.
Member of the Latvia Post board Raitis Avots has been appointed interim board chairman.
Krauklis was appointed as the chairman of the postal company on February 18 last year. The Transport Minister Kaspars Gerhards (For Fatherland and Freedom/LNNK) believes that the new chairman of Latvia Post should be chosen in an open competition.
As reported, Krauklis explained his decision to resign with the fact that, from May 1, there will be changes to regulations, which foresee substantial salary reductions – in his case, by 60%.
As of April 16, the postal company's board has also been reduced from eight to three members.
