Latvia and Morocco agree on terms of contract on cargo transportation

Cargo transportation experts from Latvia and Morocco have reached an agreement on the terms of a contract on cargo transportation, Latvian Road Transport Directorate's spokeswoman Zane Plone said LETA.

She said that on March 30-31, a meeting of Latvian and Moroccan cargo transportation experts was held during which an agreement has been reached on terms for mutual international cargo transportation agreement. Experts of both countries informed the other party on the organization of cargo transportation in the country, the respective duties and international trade.


"The experts agreed on the terms of the contract and it will be signed during this year. Thus, truckers will be able to enter a new market," said Plone.


She said that representatives of both coutnries are interested in developing cooperation as son as possible. In the second half of 2016 Latvia's exports to Morocco doubled. The main export goods are grain and dairy products, as well as timber products. Most popular Moroccan goods imported in Latvia are salt, frozen fish, fruit and vegetables.


Established in 1993, the Road Transport Directorate is a state-owned limited liability company, tasked with licensing commercial cargo transportation business which uses trucks and buses, issuing international licenses to road carriers, carrier database management and data analysis.
