The chairman of the Estonian parliament's Economic Affairs Committee, Aivar Kokk, says it is not possible to bring about a fast rise in the logistics and transit sector but small steps could lead to bigger success in the future, reports LETA/BNS.

"We plan to be a united Team Estonia with entrepreneurs and go to Moscow to the TransRussia transport and logistics fair as well as the transit fair in Kazakhstan in order to support the sector at the political level," said Kokk.

"The committee attaches importance to developing passenger carriage on the Tallinn-Tartu-Riga railway. The committee also supports increasing frequency of the Tallinn-Moscow rail connection during the FIFA World Cup next year to improve travel possibilities in both directions," Kokk said.

"Russia is our neighbor and it is necessary to interact with neighbors, whether we like it or not. Although political relations with Russia are extremely complicated, this should not inhibit trade and other business," committee member Erki Savisaar said. "If we succeed in restoring political dialogue, there is hope that entrepreneurs will be able to restore business activity as well. The whole Estonian nation will benefit from it."

The Economic Affairs Committee met on Thursday with logistics and transit entrepreneurs in the northeastern city of Sillamae to discuss activities in the sector's support
