Lithuanian Railways' new freight directorate chief to seek tariff transparency
Lazauskas said his experience in the international business
services and audit company Ernst & Young Baltic, as well as work with
Kazakh and Ukrainian companies should help him in freight negotiations with
Eastern countries.
Amid reports about Latvia's lately extremely active efforts
to take over Belarusian cargo, LG's new freight directorate chief says that
competitors may use various methods they come up with.
"If there are clients who, for one reason or another,
decide to change the service provider, we will talk and attempt to prove that
we are a company that seeks efficiency and that we will provide them with
better services than competitors," Lazauskas told.
In his opinion, disputes with one of the company's biggest
partners, Orlen Lietuva, should be settled by way of discussions, as judicial
disputes do not contribute to a better reputation.
"There are planned meetings, we will exchange
information and formulate a common position. Without talking and without
negotiations, there will not be a good result. The new leadership will make
efforts to assess the situation and speak with one of our main clients. We
would indeed want the relations to change for the better, courts is not the
place for creating a good reputation," said one of the top executives of
LG.
On Tuesday, LG leaders met with freight companies of
Klaipeda and discussed revision of tariffs and bringing more transparency.
"We think we're on the right track, and about specific
contracts – I believe I need to study them better and look at the papers,"
Lazauskas told. The railway company recently revised the contract of
service tariffs with Achemos Grupe's largest stevedoring company, Klasco.
In his words, LG intends to publish basic tariffs to allow
every client to check the calculations, furthermore, the list of services will
be reviewed: "The course is that every client should have a clear
understanding of what he pays for will be maintained."
Prior to the appointment, Lazauskas was the executive
director of Ernst & Young Baltic since 2002.
