The main initiator and organizer of the Transport Week events is the Russian Ministry of Transport, and the aim of the Transport Week is to promote discussion on topical issues of the industry, as well as to enhance understanding between the government and business community representatives. The transport exhibition is annually visited by around 7500 guests, but the total number of Russian Transport Week visitors reaches 9500. For the third year Latvia is being represented at the joint stand by three major Latvian ports and the JSC Latvian Railway. Latvian representatives are the only foreign delegation that is invited to participate in the exhibition “Transport Week 2016” with its own stand.

During the exhibition the Freeport of Riga Authority informed visitors about freight transit and investment opportunities at the port of Riga. The Freeport Deputy CEO – Marketing Director Mr.Edgars Suna: “The objective of the FPRA participation in the exhibition is to maintain a positive image of the Freeport of Riga and confirm to Russian businessmen and officials that the Port would like to continue to be a stable partner for transit cargo traffic via the Freeport of Riga. In the framework of the Russian Transport Week events it is very important, together with other Latvian transit industry players, the Minister of Transport and the Ministry officials, to demonstrate Latvian transit corridor benefits to Russian partners as well as our readiness to foster a constructive dialogue with the aim to handle various crisis-induced issues. Since the Russian Transport Week events attract representatives of influential Russian transport business community and even top Russian officials, including Russian Prime Minister Mr. Dmitry Medvedev and Transport Minister Mr. Maxim Sokolov, the Latvian representatives as the only foreign delegation have an exclusive opportunity to communicate both at high level and with decision makers, representing major Russian companies.”
