Tallinn Airport probably to borrow more money for investments

BC, Tallinn, 08.12.2016.Print version
Estonia's state-owend Tallinn Airport is to borrow more money in 2016-2020 for a 172 mln euro investment project in addition to the 30 mln euros it loaned from the European Investment Bank (EIB), but the volumes or lenders are not clear yet, reports LETA.

"We will probably need more funding," told the CEO of Tallinn Airport, Piret Murk-Dubout. When asked whether the Nordic Investment Bank (NIB) or local commercial banks might be a potential lender, she said that it is still too early to talks about it publicly in the near future.

According to the CEO the funding was positive and also showed that the financial state of Tallinn Airport is good, as EIB's criteria are quite tough. The exact terms of the loan agreement are confidential.

Tallinn Airport and EIB on Wednesday signed a loan agreement for borrowing 30 mln euros which is planned to be used to finance the expansion of the airport. The money will be mainly used to pay the reconstruction of the air side of the airport for 75 mln euros.
