ithuania's largest haulage companies are investing in establishment of own rest areas for their drivers in Western Europe in response to stricter regulation of drivers' rest procedures and lack of space in public truck parking areas, vz.lt news portal said on Monday, reports LETA/BNS.

Girteka Logistics was the first group to take the step, while road haulage and forwarding group Arijus opened its first rest center in the Netherlands a few weeks ago. According to information available to the portal, installation of the rest area in the Netherlands cost nearly 30,000 euros.

In early 2017, Arijus plans an analogous rest center for long-distance drivers in the Belgian city of Genk, with plans to provide more centers in France in the future. The rest centers of Girteka Logistics and Arijus are only open to the drivers of the two companies.
