In conference will discuss Rail Baltica project progress in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.

In November 30, 2016 Ministry of Transport of Latvia is organizing international conference “Progress of project Rail Baltica/Rail Baltic 2016”. Ministry representatives and project implementing parties will discuss project progress in every Baltic country assuring unity of the Baltic states in Rail Baltica/Rail Baltic project implementation, BC informs conference organizers.

Project activities are proceeding in line with Rail Baltica project schedule, in order to finalize design of the railway by the year 2019 and construction process until year 2025. Estonian, Latvian and Lithuanian officials will inform about achieved results in 2016 and will highlight main goals for 2017.

 

In Latvia environmental impact assessment process is concluded by determining precise Rail Baltica route in Latvia. At the same time, phase one Rail Baltica project implementation has been started. International jury decision on tender of design of Riga Railway Bridge and Riga Central Multimodal Public Transport Hub will be known in advance. During the conference information on tender results and upcoming activities will be provided to the audience. In addition, there are ongoing works of the phase one procurement process of construction of Rail Baltica railway station at international airport Riga, and the related infrastructure and overpass of the international airport Riga.

 

At the conference RB Rail Chairperson of the Management Board Baiba Rubesa will present key tasks for the following year of a joint venture of the three Baltic States RB Rail and the vision on cooperation with the national implementing authorities. Neils Balgalis, Chairman of the Grupa93 will describe the key preconditions to the selected location of the Rail Baltica line in Latvia, as Latvia is the first of the Baltic states where Rail Baltica route is approved by the Cabinet of Ministers.


Rail Baltic Estonia coordinator at the Estonian Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communication, Kristjan Kaunissaare will inform about the Rail Baltic route planning process based on environmental impact assessment process and planed land acquisition solutions in territory of Estonia.


Whereas Nerijus Kaučikas, Ministry of Transport and Communications of Lithuania, Deputy director of development and international relations department presentation will give a view on the number of issues, which are of an importance for governmental institutions in Lithuania, as well as will inform about the three main sections of the Rail Baltica project in Lithuania, including north connection till border of Latvia, south connection till border of Poland and missing links of Kaunas node.

 

 

Rail Baltica is one of the most strategic missing links to the trans-European transport network (TEN-T). The Project envisages a continuous rail link connecting three Baltic countries with Poland and rest of Europe by crossing their territories as fast conventional double track 1435 mm gauge electrified railway line with the maximum design speed of 240km/h on the route from Tallinn through Pärnu-Riga-Panevezys-Kaunas to the Lithuanian-Polish border.
