First-time registration of passenger cars in Latvia down 3.2% in eight months

With 41,334 passenger cars registered for the first time in Latvia in January-August 2016, the number of first-time registrations dropped by 3.2% compared to the respective period in 2015, LETA reports according to the information from the Latvian Road Traffic Safety Directorate (CSDD).

In the first eight months of this year the number of first-time registrations of trucks dropped by 3.6% year-on-year to 5,662 vehicles, the first-time registration of buses declined two times to 168 vehicles, while the first-time registration of motorcycles and trikes rose 2.4% to 2,016.

 

Other vehicles registered in Latvia for the first time in the first eight months of this year include 1,358 scooters, down 9.2%, 176 quad bikes, which is 38.6% more than in January-August last year, and 4,107 trailers and semi-trailers, up 3.5% year-on-year.

 

The overall number of transport vehicles registered in January-August dropped

2.3% from the respective period in 2015 to 54,821.

 

In the first eight months of last year there were 42,394 passenger cars registered in Latvia, while in 2015 there were a total of 63,758 passenger cars registered, up 1.1% from 2014.

 

CSDD is a state-owned company registering motor vehicles in Latvia, issuing drivers' licenses and conducting road worthiness examinations of vehicles.
