Lithuania's Klaipedos Nafta raised crude handling volume and grow revenue

BC, Vilnius, 07.09.2016.Print version
Klaipedos Nafta (Klaipeda Oil), the Lithuanian state-controlled oil loading company and the operator of the liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal that raised its crude handling volume by 26% in January-August period year-on-year, saw its revenue grow an annual of 3.1% to 72.9 mln euros in the first eight months of 2016, however, the August revenue dropped by 7.3% to 7.6 mln euros as compared with the same period last year, reports LETA/BNS.

The company's CEO Mantas Bartuska says Klaipedos Nafta managed to cushion the seasonal challenges this year.

"In the summer period, we usually feel the seasonal impact on the flows of oil products, however, this year we managed to cushion the seasonal challenges due to optimum diversification of the origin of cargo. The growth of LNG terminal loading volumes in August and July has to do with the fact that Lietuvos Duju Tiekimas and Achema booked capacities of the LNG terminal well into the gas year, i.e., in February, this way we can supply them with all of the necessary amount of gas during the remaining gas year," said Bartuska.

According to the statement, transit flows of dark oil products from Belarus was on the decline, however, exports of light oil products by Orlen Lietuva was up along with imports of the products by Mazeikiai and other companies.

Over the first eight months of this year, the company handled 5.4 mln tons of oil products, up by 26.2 % year-on-year. In August, the volume was 436,000 tons of oil, an increase of 6.1 % from the same month of 2015.

In the eight months, the LNG terminal degasified 11.059 mln megawatt-hours of gas, which indicates an increase by a factor of 3.3 year-on-year. The August figure was 840,000 MWh, up by a factor of 2.2 from 2015.
