Klaipeda remains Baltics' No 1 container port in January-May

Klaipeda remained the number one seaport in the Baltic countries in terms of container handling in the first five months of the year 2016, the port's authority said LETA/BNS on June 22nd.

The Lithuanian port handled 179,600 TEUs between January and May, up 4.8% from 171,400 in the same period last year.

 

TEU traffic in Riga edged up by an annual 1.7% to 154,700 and Tallinn posted a 6.4% drop to 81,200 units. Liepaja saw its TEU traffic fall by 25% to 959 units.

 

TEU traffic in Klaipeda fell by 12.8% in the full year 2015 compared with 2014 to 392,700 units.
