2,000 Latvian cyclists turn out for Critical Mass event

BC, Riga, 02.05.2016.Print version
Around 2,000 cyclists participated in the traditional Critical Mass cycling event in Riga on May 1st, informs LETA.

According to the Latvian Cyclists' Union representative Maris Jonovs, the bicycle parade began at the Daile Theater and then moved through the Old Town to Pardaugava.

Although the parade slowed down traffic significantly, motorists were respectful of the cyclists and the parade passed without any incidents, LETA observed.

The Critical Mass is organized every spring to demonstrate that there are many cyclists in Riga and there is growing demand for cycling infrastructure.

This is the 13th time the cycling event is organized in Riga.
