Kiss to serve as fare in Riga's minibuses on Valentine's Day

BC, Riga, 11.02.2016.Print version
On Valentine's Day, a kiss will be accepted as a legal tender in minibuses scuttling through the Latvian capital Riga, informs LETA.

The municipal public transport company Rigas Mikroautobusu Satiksme (RMS) operating a number of minibus routes in Riga will this year continue the tradition of accepting a kiss as a fare from couples in love on Valentine's Day.

RMS spokeswoman Maija Lazdina told LETA that heterosexual couples would get a free ride in the company's minibuses on February 14, if they demonstrated their affection for each other by kissing in front of the minibus driver, who will have to accept the kiss as a valid fare.

"This campaign is our gift to Rigans on the most romantic of festivals – Valentine's Day. Last year our campaign turned out to be very popular among passengers, and nearly 800 couples seized the opportunity. I hope that this year couples will be using our gift just as actively as last year,” said Vitalijs Komars, Commercial Director or RMS.
