Narva Bussiveod files for bankruptcy, lets go 74 staff

BC, Tallinn, 09.02.2016.Print version
Narva Bussiveod, the municipal bus company of the northeastern city of Narva, filed for bankruptcy and laid off all its 74 staff in February 2016, after losing the city's public transport tender, cites LETA.

"What happened is that the city of Narva announced a public procurement tender for a new carrier and since we did not succeed we shut the doors," board member of Narva Bussiveod Silver Peepmaa told BNS. Operating the city's bus routes was the company's core business, he explained.

After filing the bankruptcy petition the company laid off all of its 74 employees, Peepmaa said. "Some of them will get new jobs with the bus company Atko AS that won the tender, but most are out of work and are looking for new jobs," he said.

Narva Bussiveod owes five creditors 321,000 euros, he said.
