Lithuanian court allows Klaipeda port, Latvijas Tilti to sign quay upgrading contract

BC, Vilnius, 08.02.2016.Print version
A Lithuanian court has given the green light for the port of Klaipeda and Latvia's road and bridge construction company Latvijas Tilti to sign a contract, worth more than EUR 13 million, for the upgrading of certain quays at the port, informs LETA/BNS.

The Lithuanian Court of Appeals on February 4 upheld appeals by the Klaipeda port and Latvijas Tilti challenging a court's decision to suspend the public procurement procedure.

A first instance court suspended the procedure last November at the request of BMGS, another Latvian construction company, which is contesting the port authority's decision to name Latvijas Tilti the winning bidder, claiming that its EUR 13.267 million bid (including VAT) is abnormally low and unreasonable.

Latvijas Tilti is to upgrade quays number 67 and 68, which are used by the stevedoring company Bega.

BMGS, jointly with Lithuania's Hidrostatyba, offered to do the work for EUR 14.952 million, including VAT.

Latvijas Tilti is a company of KNG group. Shares in Latvijas Tilti are quoted on the Secondary List of Nasdaq Riga stock exchange.
