Baltic Automotive Components Cluster hasn't dropped plans for exports to Russia

BC, Vilnius, 04.02.2016.Print version
The Baltic Automotive Components Cluster (BACC), which brings together 18 companies, has not dropped plans to accelerate component exports to Russia's car market, the business daily Verslo Zinios reported on February 4th, cites LETA/BNS.

According to Tomas Jaskelevicius, chairman of the BACC board, this remains a long-term objective, but such plans have been put on hold for now because foreign manufacturers themselves have suspended car assembling in Russia.

German and other European car manufacturers are redirecting their component production orders from Poland to Lithuania, which is opening up new opportunities for BACC members, Jaskelevicius told the paper.

The unstable zloty has made it difficult for manufacturers in Poland to control their costs and they are looking for more stable supply alternatives in eurozone countries, he said.

Jaskelevicius forecasts that BACC members' total revenue this year will rise by another 10% to around 270 million euros.
