Cargo turnover at Ventspils Port reduced by 14.3% in 9 months

BC, Riga, 07.10.2015.Print version
In the first nine months of the year 2015, cargo turnover at the Freeport of Ventspils has reduced by 14.3% when compared to the same period last year, reaching 17.7 million tons of cargo, reports LETA.

Ventspils Port spokeswoman Inga Ievina said that the reduction in turnover was mainly due to a substantial reduction in cargo turnover at three main port terminals – Ventspils nafta terminas, Baltic Coal Terminal and joint-stock Kalija parks.

However, the port also points out that six out of its 10 terminals have actually increased cargo turnover in the first nine months of the year.

This past September, the Freeport of Ventspils handled 1.3 million tons of cargo.
