Remontowa shipyard in Poland was searched in connection with Port of Tallinn corruption case

According to the information available to the Delfi Ärileht news portal, a search took place on September 1 in the Remontowa shipyard in Gdansk, Poland, reports LETA.

The portal said that the search was carried out by the Polish Central Bureau of Anti-Corruption Fight. Documents and computers were seized from the shipyard.

 

The Gdansk Prosecutor's Office confirmed the receipt of the application for legal aid in the Port of Tallinn case.

 

Gdansk is involved in a corruption scandal in relation to the construction of two ferries that the Port of Tallinn commissioned, wrote yesterday Gdansk portal Trojmiasto.

 

The Estonian state-owned port operator company Tallinna Sadam (Port of Tallinn) board members are suspected of a large-scale corruption case. On August 26, Port of Tallinn manager Ain Kaljurand and board member Allan Kiil were arrested, suspected of taking major bribes.

 

Estonian Public Prosecutor's Office announced that the corruption scandal may involve a number of countries, including Poland. Estonian investigators asked for the help of the Polish prosecutor's office in investigating the case.
