Keepers of vehicles registered in Lithuania now can carry out mandatory roadworthiness tests in Germany and apply to 235 accredited inspection bodies in Bavaria, Baden-Wurttemberg, Hesse, Thuringia, Schleswig-Holstein federal states as well Zarlando, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania regions and cities of Hamburg and Niedersachsen, reported BC the Ministry of Transport and Communications of Lithuania.

It is recalled that from 1 July 2015, the new Road Traffic Safety provisions came into force, which, according to the practice established by the Ministry of Transport and Communications of the Republic of Lithuania, authorise to conduct the roadworthiness test of motor vehicle in other member states of the European Economic Community (EEC). Already several dozen of Lithuanian vehicle drivers in Germany have made use of this possibility.

The Ministry of Transport and Communications of the Republic of Lithuania draws the drivers' attention to the fact that after the technical inspection of the vehicle is undertaken in Germany, the owner of motor vehicle and trailer, which are registered in Lithuania, have to submit a written request for the recognition of the mandatory roadworthiness check together with other required documents such as information about the insurance, paid taxes, etc. to any accredited inspection centre in Lithuania.

The request can be submitted directly to any of the technical inspection company in Lithuania or by registered mail, courier or electronic means. Within 5 working days after the receiving of all the necessary documents, the company will evaluate the information and decide whether to recognise the roadworthiness test carried out in one of the EEC inspection centre. Consequently, the vehicle keeper will be informed about the decision.
