Recorded on video how bag with possible money in it placed in trunk of Magonis' vehicle

Print versionAccording to Latvian Television's newscast ''Panorama'', investigators from the Corruption Prevention Bureau (CPB) have recorded a video where a man can be seen approaching the vehicle of former Latvijas Dzelzcels CEO Ugis Magonis and placing a bag with possible money in it in the trunk of his vehicle. The video also shows Magonis opening the trunk of the vehicle, informs LETA.

''Panorama'' also reports that the bribe in question could have been larger than the EUR 500,000 reported by the media.
As reported, the Riga Regional Court on August 8 ordered Magonis be taken into custody as a security measure. He is currently in custody at Riga Central Prison.
The Corruption Prevention Bureau suspects Magonis of accepting a major bribe of EUR 500,000 so that LDz ritosa sastava serviss would purchase four old locomotives for several million euros from the Estonian millionaire Oleg Ossinovski's company Skinest. Ossinovski denies any corrupt practices in the sale of the locomotives.
Magonis was dismissed from the job on August 7.
