Michal: corruption case at Port of Tallinn will not endanger procurement of ferries

BC, Tallinn, 28.08.2015.Print version
The Minister of Economic Affairs and Infrastructure Kristen Michal said he is convinced that despite the corruption case at the Port of Tallinn, the procurement of ferries is not at risk, writes LETA/Postimees Online.

Michal assured that he as the Minister, the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications as well as the Port of Tallinn have assumed responsibility that the procurement of ferries would be completed in time, despite the bribery scandal affecting the executives of the Port of Tallinn that emerged on Wednesday.

Michal assured that as he knew of the suspicions concerning corruption beforehand, he had supervised the procurement processes, and said that they are still on schedule. “The new Management Board of the Port of Tallinn, and the Supervisory Board will have to guarantee that the process would be kept on schedule,” he said.

On Thursday, the Supervisory Board of the Port of Tallinn convened and decided that the new Management Board of the State-owned company will consist of the former CFO Marko Rand and sworn attorney Carri Ginter.
