Port of Tallinn executives detained; suspected of corruption

Officers of the Security Police Board detained CEO of the Port of Tallinn Ain Kaljurand and member of the Management Board Allan Kiil on August 26th, writes LETA/Postimees Online.

Both men are suspected of having received bribes in large amounts over the course of several years. Before initial procedural acts are carried out, the Public Prosecutor's Office will not reveal details about the suspected offence, and the amount of money allegedly received.

 

On Wednesday, searchers were carried out also in the places of work and places of residence of Kaljurand and Kiil, as well as in several other locations.

 

Three persons have been detained, suspected of having given bribes, and three more with suspicions of having abetted the bribe-giving. No enterprises have currently been declared suspects.

 

The pre-trial investigation of the case is carried out by the Security Police Board and supervised by the Public Prosecutor's Office.
