SEB will support Lithuanian Shipping Company's vessel Romuva

The Ministry of Transport and Communications on July 23rd agreed with SEB bank over the required financial support to Lithuanian Shipping Company's (LSC) vessel Romuva, which is docked in Italy's Taranto port, informs LETA/ELTA.

Money was transferred to purchase fuel, food and water supplies. An agreement was reached with a maritime agency to supply Romuva with fuel as soon as possible. The Ministry reported Friday morning that the ship was being fuelled already.

 

Vessel Deltuva was the first of LSC's impounded ships to return to Lithuania from the Polish port of Gdansk on Thursday.

 

The crew of LSC's vessel Venta, which is anchored near the US coast, announced that it was not willing to leave the ship. Whereas seafarers from ship Romuva that is in Italy, part of the crew of vessel Voruta that is in Portugal and two members of vessel Roguva that is in Senegal would like to return to Lithuania.

 

As reported, on Thursday the Ministry of Transport and Communications, which is the majority shareholder in the Lithuanian Shipping Company, filed for bankruptcy. The company is insolvent and has a debt of nearly EUR 20 million.
