Stationary speed cameras in Latvia register 7,000 traffic violations in February-May

Since February 12 when setting up of stationary speed cameras began on Latvian roads, the cameras have registered 6,963 speeding violations, the State Police informed LETA.

A record number of speeding violations – 3,425 – was registered in April, which is 262 violations more than in March.

 

The highest speeding record –167 kilometers per hour – was registered on Tinuzi-Koknese Highway, according to information provided by the State Police.

 

As reported, company Reck won the Road Traffic Safety Directorate's open tender for the procurement of 16 stationary speed cameras with a Doppler radar. The procurement price was EUR 896,786, without value added tax.
