Economy ministry of Estonia appoints new head of Maritime Administration

Estonian Economy and Communications Ministry of Estonia approved Rene Arikas as the new Director General of the Maritime Administration, LETA/Public Broadcasting reports.

Secretary General of the Ministry of Economy Merike Saks expressed the hope that the private sector background will be an advantage to Arikas in managing a state institution.

 

"The Maritime Authority has to be an efficient customer-friendly state authority. We have high expectations to Arikas and we hope that he will be able to apply the experiences of private business in the public sector," stated Saks.

 

Rene Arikas has worked in managerial positions in the Baltic Ship Repairs Plant BLRT for years and since 2012 he is BLRT Group Quality Director, and since 2014 a member of the Council of the Maritime Academy.
