SRS informs that one of the possible explanations for the steep increase in biodiesel production volume are the state subsidies that the producers receive directly for each liter of biodiesel that they produce, writes LETA.
Last year, there were six biodiesel producers in Latvia; the bulk of the biodiesel they produced was exported, mainly to the European Union countries, only 2,210 tons of biodiesel was sold on the Latvian market.
As reported, the total excise tax revenue from sales of oil products last year totalled LVL 290.22 million, an increase of LVL 22.79 million or 9% on 2007.
