BC, Riga, 15.12.2014.Print version
Starting today, pilot project titled "United Green Corridor for Physical Persons" will start working in test mode at the Grebneva-Ubylinka checkpoint on the Latvian-Russian border and run until January 15, 2015, the State Revenue Service informed LETA.

This will give opportunity for tourists and businessmen who have no declarable goods in their possession, and who are driving an automobile, to cross the border faster.

The project stipulates that vehicles that have no declarable goods in their baggage will be a priority in regard to customs services and border control formalities.

Persons who cross the border in an automobile will be issued a "United green corridor" control ticket which has to presented to a customs officer on the other side of the border.

In order to use the "United green corridor", the vehicle and baggage cannot contain any declarable goods, prohibited or restricted goods, items of cultural value, "tax free" goods, and cash in the amount of more than EUR 10,000 upon entering Latvia, or more than USD 10,000 upon entering Russia.

The State Revenue Service reminds that items that do not exceed EUR 300 in value do not need to be declared.
