Barcelona wants similar festival to "Staro Riga"

Print versionBarcelona is following with interest Riga's cultural program and would like to have a project next year similar to the festival of light ''Staro Riga'' (Beaming Riga), visiting Barcelona Deputy Mayor Jaume Ciurana said during a meeting with Riga Vice Mayor Andris Ameriks (Honor to Serve Riga) yesterday, informs LETA.

The officials discussed city planning, economic relations, port development and tourism facilitation matters, expressing hope for successful cooperation between both cities in the future.
It is truly a joy and honor to launch cooperation with Riga now that the city has become the European Capital of Culture, pointed out Ciurana.
Barcelona is also planning to apply to become the European Capital of Culture. "You will have a wonderful experience to share this year", said Ciurana.
The sides also signed a cooperation agreement in the arts between Riga and Barcelona.
Ameriks hosted the Barcelona delegation in Town Hall.
