Less cases of British tourists causing problems at Freedom Monument in Riga
Print version
As LETA was informed by Riga Municipal Police Tourism Police Chief Andrejs Aronovs, no British tourist has been detained naked or relieving themselves by the Freedom Monument the past two years.
"We are in close cooperation with our colleagues in Great Britain and the British Embassy. At the moment, we believe that this obnoxious behavior by British tourists has reduced quite substantially. The number of stag parties has also decreased, and they are not as loud or troublesome as before," the Tourism Police chief said, adding that the British media also deserve much credit in improving the situation by reporting on the behavior of their countrymen.
The British Embassy in Riga also admitted to LETA that the situation has improved due to hard work in informing incoming tourists.
