Latvia and Kazakhstan to pursue closer cooperation in tourism

While accompanying Latvian President Andris Berzins on an official visit to Kazakhstan, Economy Minister Daniels Pavluts signed the Economy Ministry's agreement with the Kazakh Industry and New Technologies Ministry on cooperation in tourism, the Economy Ministry told LETA.

On behalf of Kazakhstan, the agreement was signed by Kazakh Deputy Minister of Industry and New Technologies Albert Rau, informs Nozare.lv.

 

The objective of the agreement is to consolidate the two countries' cooperation in tourism, creating efficient information exchange and coordination of events meant to develop tourism in the interest of both countries.

 

The agreement stipulates information exchange about tourism development, statistical and research data, laws and regulations on tourism, training of tourism professionals. Both countries will also exchange information about tourism potential and develop closer cooperation within international tourism organizations and initiatives, as well as cooperate on investment projects in tourism business.

 

Pavluts also participated in a Latvian-Kazakh business forum, emphasizing Latvian businessmen's interest in the expansion of cooperation with Central Asian countries. In Latvia's opinion, economic relations with Kazakhstan have great potential for the development of cooperation in transit and logistics, tourism, certification, IT, standardization, agriculture, environmental protection, education and science, pharmaceutical, healthcare and other areas.
