Covid-19: Lithuanian citizens banned from travelling to 18 exceptionally risky countries

BC, Riga, 14.03.2020.Print version
Lithuanian citizens are banned from Saturday from travelling to 18 exceptionally risky countries, the government said.

The list includes China, Hong Kong, Iran, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Italy, France, Germany, Spain, Iceland, Spain, Sweden, Austria, Denmark, the Netherlands, Switzerland and Egypt.

This ban means it will be impossible to travel to these countries either by air, or by land or sea. All people who have come from these countries will be required to self-isolate at home.

These measures were announced by the Ministries of Health and Foreign Affairs.

"Taking into account the difficult situation and that fact that countries have started restricting the movement of people, citizens are advised to cut short unnecessary trips, and those abroad should look for ways to return to Lithuania via countries without movement restriction," the Foreign Ministry said.

Travel recommendations for specific countries can be found at https://keliauk.urm.lt.

Lithuania is set to introduce quarantine on Monday to contain the spread of the coronavirus.
