BC, Tallinn, 10.01.2017.Print version
The Estonian border guard has cleared the conjoined lakes Lake Peipsi and Lammijarv, as well as the Narva reservoir, all of which are situated on the Estonian-Russian border, for ice fishing on foot and by vehicle, reports LETA/BNS.

On Lake Peipsi, ice fishers are forbidden from approaching river and stream entrances to a distance of less than 150 meters in South Estonia and to a distance of less than 500 meters in the territory of East-Viru County. Also the area between Uhtinina and Piirissaar, as well as the area off the southeastern tip of Piirissaar Island, remain off-limits.

Fishers are permitted onto the ice of Lake Pskov, as well as onto the lakes Vaniku, Kriiva and Pabra on foot only. Ice conditions in Lake Pattina have deteriorated and the lake is off-limits to anglers from Tuesday.

Border guards have started to put up markers of the border area regime on the ice of the border lakes. The markers are put up with 200-meter intervals.

In addition fishers are advised to register their leaving and arrival via the online app available at the address piiriveekogu.ee or at the nearest border guard base.
